Own a piece of mineralogical history! This calcite stalactite was collected in Adelsburg, Austria by a "Miss Miller." Undated, but we strongly suspect 19th century.
The Academy of Natural Science's mineral collection was quite possibly America's finest during the 19th century. In 2006, the institution sold more than 18,000 specimens to a private dealer for $1 million. This specimen was likely part of that sale.
The largest of the stalactite pieces measures roughly 5cm x 4cm or 2.25x1.75 in. Strangely, it appears that none of the pieces of the stalactite fits with any other one.
